Temporal Dynamics of Direction Tuning in Motion-Sensitive Macaque Area MT
J Neurophysiol Perge et al. 93: 2104

Supplemental Videos

Monophasic/Biphasic: Polarplot movie of the time course of direction tuning for a monophasic neuron and a biphasic neuron. Values on the radial scale correspond to the relative probability of stimulus directions (from 0 to 315 deg) as a function of time relative to the spike occurence (as indicated below of the figure).

Direction Tuning: Illustration of the stimulus used in the direction tuning experiments. At regular temporal intervals a binary random dot pattern is shifted in any of 8 pseudorandomly chosen directions. This results in a sequence of motion impulses in different directions. The temporal intervals and the size of the spatial shifts vary between experiments (temporal intervals: every 8 or 27 ms, spatial shift: 0.07-0.42 deg in steps of 0.07 deg).
