Retraction

An investigation by the Office of the Inspector General, National Science Foundation, found that conclusions in this paper related to the modulation of recombinant and native GABA_A receptors by anabolic steroids, as well as the behavioral implications of these findings, were based, in part, on data that had been falsified by the first author, Dr. Jorge-Rivera. The paper is therefore being retracted by the American Physiological Society at the request of Dr. Jorge-Rivera, and with the concurrence of the co-authors (who were neither accused of nor found responsible for any wrongdoing) as required by the National Science Foundation.
